Author(s): Pawel Kabacik (Tech. Univ. Wroclaw, Poland) Details: Year: 2004 Pages: 190 Publisher: Oficyna Wydawnicza Politechniki Wroclawskiej ISBN: 83-7085-765-5 |
Abstract: The monograph describes two evaluation methods developed at Technical Univ. of Wroclaw in the research on highly integrated lightweight antennas. The one method allows simulations of highly integrated antennas made of composites or other dielectrics. The electrical properties of the materials are measured over broad temperature and frequency ranges, and are included into the simulations of the impedance characteristics of the microwave components incorporated into stratified-media antennas. The other method explores the near field distribution of the antenna. Due to the two-dimensional signal processing applied, the method provides highly accurate radiation patterns in three dimensions. Both methods have been upgraded compared to those described in the literature. In contrast to conventional measuring methods, which provide overall data, it is expected that the enhanced evaluation methods will allow instant pointing of non-conforming array elements and modules. As both methods make use of indirect approaches, comprehensive data processing or simulations must be performed. |

The six volume set of Encyclopedia of RF and Microwave Engineering illustrates how this field has been the key to enabling technology responsible for the phenomenal growth of wireless communications. This set also examines how RF and microwave engineering continues to have great influence as the technology behind such important applications as radar, remote sensing, remote control, sensors, navigation, surveillance, electronic warfare, radiometers, plasma research, and imaging.

Abstract: This book builds on the student's introduction to electromagnetic theory that has been obtained in an undergraduate physics course in order to emphasize its importance in a modern electrical and computer engineering curriculum. Examples that illustrate the concepts of static fields, time-varying fields, wave propagation, transmission lines, and radiation are included. In addition, the text emphasizes the use of MATLAB, which is widely available and has frequently been used by the student in previous courses. |

Author(s): Ben Allen Mohammad Ghavami Details: Year: 2005 Pages: 290 Publisher: John Wiley & Sons, Inc., Hoboken, NJ ISBN: 0-470-86189-4 |
Abstract: In the last fifty years, extensive studies have been carried out worldwide in the field of adaptive array systems. However, far from being a mature technology with little research left to tackle, there seems to be unlimited scope to develop the fundamental characteristics and applications of adaptive antennas for future 3G and 4G mobile communications systems, ultra wideband wireless and satellite and navigation systems. This book provides insight on adaptive array fundamentals as well as coverage of adaptive algorithms and advanced topics. It analyses the performance of various wideband beamforming techniques with wideband array processing and comprehensively covers implementation issues related to circular arrays, channel modelling and transmit beam forming. It supports practical implementation considerations with detailed case studies on wideband arrays, radar, sonar and biomedical imaging, terrestrial wireless systems and satellite communication systems. |

Abstract: Despite previous books on UWB systems for radar systems and more recently, communications, no book exists that deals with the antennas and propagation of UWB for both communication and radar systems. This book provides up-to-date material on fundamental design concepts and principles for UWB antennas and arrays. In addition, the propagation of UWB radiation is addressed and gives a better understanding of the nature of propagation of UWB waves including interference, coexistence, diversity and MIMO (multiple-input, multiple output - transmission of the same information by multiple transmitters and multiple receivers) and propagation through biological materials. The book also looks at sxisting and proposed UWB applications. |
